about us

Building more accessible, equitable and human-centred digital experiences.

In The Margins is a research-led digital practice working with organisations committed to social change, accessibility and community impact.

We collaborate with charities, cultural organisations, social enterprises and community initiatives to create digital experiences, systems and visual identities that support participation, understanding and long-term organisational resilience.

Our work brings together design, research, accessibility and systems thinking — helping organisations navigate complexity while creating more inclusive and meaningful digital environments.

Alina

Co-Founder and Creative Director

Alina is a designer, educator and researcher working at the intersection of digital design, accessibility and social impact.

With a background in Global Learning and International Development, her work explores how thoughtful digital experiences can support participation, learning and more equitable access to information and opportunities.

Before co-founding In The Margins, she worked across education, training and community development initiatives, facilitating programmes for senior leaders, international NGOs and Fortune 500 organisations. Her work has included writing and editorial contributions for the British Council, speaking at national symposiums and supporting government-funded learning initiatives.

She founded In The Margins through a growing belief that digital systems and online spaces shape how people access information, participate in communities and experience organisations, and that these environments should be designed with greater care, accessibility and humanity.

Outside of work, she’s slightly obsessed with Harry Potter, anime and animals, especially her pug.

Prateem

Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer

Prateem is a technologist and systems thinker working across digital infrastructure, web development and emerging technologies for social impact organisations.

With a background in software development and digital systems, he is particularly interested in how thoughtful technology can simplify complexity, improve accessibility and support more sustainable ways of working for organisations and communities.

Through In The Margins, he develops accessible websites, operational systems and digital tools that balance technical performance with usability, flexibility and long-term organisational needs.

He is especially excited by the potential of AI, automation and ethical technology to support learning, collaboration and more inclusive digital futures.

Outside of work, he enjoys running marathons, discovering great food and exploring new technologies.

How we work

Our approach is grounded in collaboration and care. These principles guide how we design, build and work with organisations and communities.

01

Accessibility from the beginning

We believe accessibility should be embedded throughout the design process, from structure and language to usability and performance.

02

Research-led decision making

Our work is grounded in insight, participation and lived experience, helping organisations navigate complexity with greater clarity.

03

Thoughtful technology

We explore how digital tools and emerging technologies can support more inclusive, sustainable and human-centred ways of working.

Collaboration and participation

We work closely with organisations and communities throughout the design process, creating space for dialogue, shared knowledge and meaningful participation.
