The Story
Voluntary Action Sheffield has provided support and leadership for the voluntary sector for almost 100 years.
They focus on community impact, influence decision makers and champion volunteering as a force for positive action.
Getting involved in community projects is a huge part of what gives them an identity as Sheffielders and makes the city a welcoming, fun and thriving place to live and work. They do the things which enable groups to focus their energy on making a difference with people.
In our editorial design for Voluntary Action Sheffield’s impact report, we embarked on a mission to visually narrate the profound impact of their community initiatives over the past year. Our design approach centered on creating a compelling and engaging narrative that both reflects the organization’s commitment to community empowerment and highlights their key achievements and stories. We meticulously crafted a layout that balances powerful imagery with concise, impactful text, ensuring that each page contributes to a cohesive and inspiring story.
We implemented a design language that resonates with the values of Voluntary Action Sheffield—warm, inviting, and community-focused. The use of vibrant colors, dynamic typography, and custom illustrations was tailored to represent the diverse communities they serve and to convey the positive changes brought about by their work. Interactive elements, such as data visualizations and callout quotes, were incorporated to draw readers’ attention to critical data points and personal testimonials, making the impact report not only informative but also engaging. The final design successfully captured the essence of Voluntary Action Sheffield’s mission and left a lasting impression on stakeholders and community members alike.
